Louay Kayali (January 20, 1934 - December 26, 1978) A Syrian plastic artist, born in Aleppo, began his first painting in 1945 to present his first paintings at the Aleppo School of Equipment in 1952. In 1954 he completed his secondary studies and began studying law at Damascus University. In 1955, he participated in a university exhibition to win the second prize. He left the Faculty of Law in the same year and returned to Aleppo to work as a writer at the Military Academy. In 1956 he was sent by the Syrian Ministry of Education to Italy to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome after winning a competition conducted by the Ministry of Education, Italy, which surpassed his talent during his studies. He participated in various exhibitions and contests in Italy. He was awarded the first prize in the "Sicilia" Italian in Rome and won several awards, such as the gold medal for foreigners in the competition Ravenna (Ravenna)
His career and art exhibitions held his first solo exhibition of the same year at La Fontanella on October 30. Such as Syria, along with the great artist Fatih al-Morshed at La Biennale di venezia in Venice in 1960. He also won the second prize in the Alatri competition. In Syria when he held his third exhibition at the World Modern Art Gallery in Damascus, which contained 28 oil paintings and 30 paintings. His fourth exhibition was held at the World Modern Art Gallery in Damascus in 1962 and in 1964 he held his fifth exhibition at the Cairola Gallery in Milan. His sixth exhibition was held at the Carpine Carpentry Hall in Rome. Under the title "For the Cause", he held his seventh exhibition at the Arab Cultural Center in Damascus in 1967, in which he presented 30 paintings of coal that traveled throughout Syria between Homs, Hama, Aleppo and Lattakia but this exhibition was subjected to attacks by a group of art and artistic criticism in the press. In the wake of the exhibition most of the paintings of this exhibition and then stopped drawing, he was then very depressed and stopped teaching and painting retreat in his home in the neighborhood of Afif in Damascus, to leave to Aleppo in 1968. This year, Mamdouh Qashlan, the then president of Fine Arts in Syria, published a book entitled " In 1975, he held his 10th exhibition in "One Gallery" in Beirut. In 1976 he participated in the works of artist Fateh al-Madras in the Syrian pavilion at the "Arab Culture Weeks" in Montreal, Canada. He also held a joint exhibition with Fath El-Morshed in the exhibition hall of the National Museum in Aleppo and then held his 11th exhibition at the People's Hall of Fine Arts in Damascus. In 1976 he presented 45 paintings. His 12th exhibition, which was held at the People's Hall of Fine Arts under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, traveled to Italy in 1978 but soon returned to Aleppo to isolate people. Louay Kayali painted the oil paintings in their forms, so he created the silent nature and the human suffering as he shaved the art of portraiture and croquet and drawing charcoal. But for his sensitivity he could not bear the attacks of the fierce nukes who were not justified at the time except as a spiteful driven by jealousy of a talented artist who owned the corner of art the art world. He was described by many qualities as being said to be an artist of noble grief, a silent painter of pain, and a creator of quiet, sad beauty.

His death on the night of 9 - 10 September was burned in his bed in the shadow of stories that varied between an accident caused by a tobacco or suicidal wound. Luai Kayali was burned in his room in his city Aleppo. He was transferred to Aleppo University Hospital and then to the military hospital in Harasta, Damascus. 1978 and was buried in Aleppo in the tomb of the righteous. 1979 On 20 February, a memorial service was held at the National Library of Aleppo in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. On the same evening, an exhibition of his works was opened at the National Gallery in Aleppo.
